Progress Updates, 2023 Roadmap: Terp Network

This blog post takes the opportunity to share the development & progress of the Terp Network, the public, distributed blockchain framework for cannabis & web-3 integration pioneers.

Current Milestones

A. Consistency

Terp Network has been a chance to experience the reality of what it takes to build & contribute to open source tooling to an industry standard.

The consistency and resilience of community members using terp network is shown through moments that highlighted areas for improvement in workflows & user experiences, things like network upgrades, production code practices, ibc function details, and more.

B. Governance

We saw governance as another first-priority function of the mainnet.

Those who are participating are those who are delegating or validating terp network, and it was another affirmative moment for network governance that set baseline expectations for participation in Terp Network.

The scope of the proposals we saw included:

Terp Network Interim Constitution:

This is a base-layer document that communicates the values and expectations of the Terp Network Community. This has been created to be modified for the future priorities decided via use of network governance, and we aim to serve this document as something that compliments Terp Network & leads it to flourishing into what it is clear Terp Network can become.

Governance Proposal Framework:

A general framework for participating in Terp Network governance functions was create for a base level of governance standard.

Smart Contract Uploads:

The first set of smart contract logic we saw instantiated was the Polytone Contracts. These are building blocks that is a keystone to improve cross chain contract interactions.

If there is some function that you want to see Terp Network provide, start a conversation! If you are unsure if something like what you envision already exist, terp network is a choice people now have to create conversations and provide feedback & suggestions for a sovereign cannabis & web-3 network.

C. Software Updates

Software updates that improve testing for existing features of the logic have been included in a v2.0.0 draft. Once the v2.0.0 has been tested to a point that is fully functional, the current testnet will undergo a software upgrade proposal. Things from packet-forward-middleware (pfm) & ibc-hooks, to fee-share & global-fee, plus more have been added to this v2.0.0 upgrade being discussed.

Roadmap

A roadmap that includes both short & long term examples of the future of terp network will now be maintained. This will be found directly in the terp-core repo, and you can find that here.

Hash-paper

A hash-paper is in the works. This hash-paper will serve as the ‘pitch deck’ & opinionated piece that is being created by community members , and can be used to shape building the network of products owned by the community members that aim to use it.
