Terp Network: Our History, & Our Future.
Terp Network is an interoperable, decentralized protocol that allows users to exchange tokens across different blockchains seamlessly.
Terp Network is not the product or brainchild of any one person, alias, team or brand. Terp Network manifested from true grassroots origins. It is essential to understand the various roles community members can play in the decentralized protocol, so that anyone may choose to participate where they feel most comfortable!
First, who are Terp Network Community Members?
Terp Network community members are interested in self sovereignty in its fullest form. Members practice techniques that allow them to interact with censorship-resistant solutions, and most importantly community members can learn from each other & share the value of knowledge within this space.
Below are generalized categories of what a Terp Network community member may fall under, but by no means is exhaustive
Interchain Application User
This role refers to users who interact with the Terp Network protocol by utilizing the various interchain applications built on top of it. In the upcoming months, various collaboration opportunities with interchain applications will be available for all of the Interchain 😊
Token Holder
Token holders are individuals who hold Terp Network’s native tokens, TERP or THOL.
As a token holder, community members can participate in the governance of the network, earn rewards by staking their tokens, and potentially receive a share of transaction fees generated on the network.
Governance Participant
Governance exist to ensure we can align the direction of Terp Network with the communities values.
Participants are those community members who participate in the governance procedure of the Terp Network protocol. This includes
- Voting on proposals related to network upgrades
- Changes to the protocol’s economic model,
- Other critical decisions that affect the network’s development.
Node Operator
Node operators are responsible for running and maintaining nodes that support the Terp Network protocol.
We briefly touched in the previous article about how validator nodes contribute to validating all transactions on-chain, however these are not the only types of nodes in the network!
Public, Archive, Seed, Light-Client, Relayer, Indexer, are just some examples of types of nodes that are configurable to Terp Network
Community Support
Community support members are those community members choosing to put in the time to make sure that other community members are able to ask questions freely and get answers about Terp Network.
Who are Terp Network community members?
Currently, the majority of our active community base are node operators across the globe. Over 150 individual node operators on both test-net & main-net make up the initial community base.
Our two main protocol maintainers are Austin (Returniflost) & Xiti (Xiti), both coming from multiple years of experience in the cosmos ecosystem and an unquestionable passion for cannabis.
Where do Terp Network community members come from?
A large number of community members of Terp Network originally were community members of a project called Chronic Token.
Chronic Token was a project also aimed to bridge the gap between cannabis & web-3, launched as an ERC-20. This project had to be killed after a smart contract exploit, naïve relaunch efforts , the loss of a core team member, and tremendous uncertainty in the market from mid 2021 to 2023.
The community was able grown through these experiences, many of the original supporters coming out on the other side positive & focused on what truly is needed for a sustainable space to build solutions for our culture; and it is NOT through hype but rather solving trivial problems with logical smart contract solutions.
What can Terp Network Community Members Look forward to?
If we are to revolutionize the way that our cultures collaborate, support, and mitigate risk; then we should not use the same roadmaps that have led us to big money negatively impacting cultural value for monetary gain.
